I am about to fly to Singapore for 'Artstage' (Aisa's biggest Art fair) and on my return will be appearing in a group show at new(ish) yet awesome 'Rook&Raven' on Rathbone place London. Absolutely worthy of a blog post....been working on a painting which contains a completely random symbol or pattern from the floor that a model was perched on in a fashion mag, I extracted the symbol and began to repeat it as a motif to my current output/ painting series. During a break I went and watched 'Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes'. When the main monkey is in his cell, he begins to draw....the bloody symbol i've been painting for the last month?!! Am I a monkey, is he clever than me, who stole from who, is it coincidence? IS the monkey telling me i'm onto something?! What the hell does this mean?!?! ...and tea.

Today was a wierd one...after a quiet bob in the boat, on the tilt in the Thames, post the daily email catch-up;
I ventured to 'Lassco' at Vauxhall for a coffee and a chat with a very nice young lady whom is offering help for the arts & music festival I began creating last year. We had a very enlightening, productive chat and then left each other to begin dreaming of more creative escapisms that could occur at this summers' festival.

After that I met some more top people and discussed the potential for art at the festival and also after-party shenanigans post the faithful event (Little London Fields Pt II). I'm really struggling to get to grips with ANY artwork as my life is extraordinarily hectic, Ive moved temporarily onto this boat with dog and girlfriend in towe..awaiting the next 'home'. We found a very nice place, nestled betwixt Dalston & Shoreditch, though it's a tad expensive. I know it's possibly a bridge too far, but we shall see how all pans out.

I promise that I will come back with some thought provoking stuff, I have been too influenced too easily in the past and have meandered through art-life without stopping to really look at myself and my output. At present, my work appears transient and pretty throwaway..it possibly is but I don't like it this way. Expect more, soon!

My puppy just fell into the silt between the boat an the pier and nearly drowned, I had to grab her by her throat to rescue her from the dank depths of the squelch. She looked pretty worried, all fuzzy and fretting; clean now and ready for bed (thank god) she's a terror!

Honesty is the best policy, let's begin by being so in our blogs....

It's a rainy day here in Hackney, East London. I love the rain, there's something quite romantic about it, maybe not just the aesthetics of it splashing on the cobbles and battered factory rooftops but the onomatopoeic drips and droppings on the windows whilst i'm cooped up all cosy and warm, working as the world goes by.... i'm currently reading this: http://www.hg2.com/stores/a-hedonists-guide-to-art really quite funny in places, I would recommend for anyone who cares about art, or thinks that they should care.

Back home for the holidays and got a telling off from my mum as I stumbled into the house late last night/ early this morning and fell asleep in a bed my mum had made up for my Nan..eek. Then I was presented with half a bag of Frosties that I had obviously dug into post piss up!? Dry frosties, snow, shouting, it's Christmas..pow!

This was 'Hash Brown' almost complete, but I wasn't happy too flat in certain areas a bit dirty unnecessarily.

So I sort of went and fixed it to a completely new composition, its way different but the core elements are there. This was way too 80s' for me and had to be ditched or more positively changed...sooo.....

I've been waking up feeling absolutely shattered of late, working late until the wee hours on paintings only to realise i'm sorta tripping out on the spray can fumes whilst my girlfriend is trying to get to sleep next to me, eek.
I've been really struggling as to where to take things next, what 'really matters' to me? What matters so much that I want to tell the world about it with my art...i'll be brutally honest, not much at the moment. When I make bad work, I just try and start again, i'm happy to fail again and again, it's just getting to me a little at the moment. Onwards etc...Alx
